“Magic is the intersection of fantasy & reality”
– TODD DAY
Abracadabra! Meet Todd Day, a dedicated magician, and a proud member of the Academy of Magical Arts at the exclusive Magic Castle in Hollywood. Todd’s fascination with the world of artistry and illusion can be traced back to his paternal grandpa, a legendary trickster who instilled in him a deep love for the mystical and the enigmatic. His grandpa did not perform traditional magic, but rather clever, charlatan style of “bar bets” that always fooled Todd Day.
While growing up in the City of Angels, Todd’s magical journey truly took flight when he witnessed the captivating television specials of David Copperfield during the 1990s. These shows ignited a spark of passion for illusion that would stay with him throughout his life. Todd’s most cherished David Copperfield illusions is the unforgettable levitation act. Copperfield’s performance took levitation to a whole new level, quite literally. Unlike any other magician, Copperfield appeared to genuinely soar through the air, reminiscent of Peter Pan, effortlessly defying gravity. Todd was absolutely captivated by this spellbinding feat; it left an indelible mark on his imagination. So profound was the impact that Todd often found himself dreaming of soaring through his own living room, at times awakening in a state of confusion, questioning whether he had truly taken flight or if it was a mere dream. It’s a testament to the magical power of Copperfield’s artistry that continues to inspire and amaze even in the realm of dreams.
Between the ages of 6 and 12, Todd embarked on his magical odyssey by performing Hasbro (Milton bradley) distributed tenyo “Magic Works” from toy stores like Toys R Us and KB Toys. His family soon recognized his budding talent, ensuring that his birthdays and Christmases were filled with magic tricks and props. These tricks, while often “self-working,” required the young magician to master the art of presentation, misdirection, and showmanship. At the age of 11, Todd took his first steps into inventing magic, convincing his cousins that he possessed a unusual ability to pass a quarter through a hole in the back of his neck. This early innovation foreshadowed his future as a creative magician.
Ages 13 to 16 marked a pivotal period as Todd delved into more complex tricks, purchasing them from the Wizards store at Universal City Walk. He began performing more adult-oriented magic, honing his skills and captivating audiences with increasingly sophisticated illusions. High school counselors nudged Todd towards the merits of a traditional career and higher education, leading him to graduate with an economics degree from UCLA. He ventured into the finance field, setting aside his magical ambitions temporarily but never losing sight of his true passion.

Magic, for Todd, is not just a hobby; it’s a lifelong passion that encompasses learning, observing, discussing, and performing. He sees magic as the perfect intersection between the realms of fantasy and reality, providing a bridge for his logical and rational mindset.
Aside from his enduring admiration for David Copperfield, Todd has found inspiration in historical magicians like Max Malini, who displayed extreme sacrifice and patience to deliver unbelievable feats. Among contemporary magicians, he admires Shin Lim for his mysterious and visually captivating sleight of hand. In his adult years, Todd has created two original illusions that are currently in practice but not yet marketed to the world. He continues to attend lectures, conventions, and practices regularly to hone his craft. Beyond magic, Todd enjoys hiking, playing basketball, collecting, and listening to vinyl records, discovering new speakeasies in town where he discovers unique cocktails to recreate at his home bar. TODD currently resides in New York City but Travels often for work.
